famous visitors and beautiful location
St Cyriac’s is situated in the picturesque Wiltshire village of Lacock, with its medieval streets and the nearby Lacock Abbey. The church has received the attention of the Royal Family over the years: Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother used to visit regularly in the 1950s on her trips to the Cheltenham Races, and Camilla Parker-Bowles the Duchess of Cornwall has a home in nearby Reybridge.
The church’s situation in Lacock has also lent itself to appearing in period films such as Moll Flanders and Downton Abbey, as well as in the Harry Potter movies. Unspoilt by modern development, the streets and houses of the village continue to attract numerous visitors. Most of the land and properties are owned and maintained by the National Trust, who received the estate from Matilda Talbot in 1944.

A PLACE To PAUSE AND PRAY
Prayer is any way in which we reach out to communicate with God. He is closer to us than we realise. St Cyriac’s is a place where God has been worshipped for over one thousand years; many have come in times of joy and sorrow, in need and in plenty.
Christians believe that in Jesus, God has walked this earth before us. What Jesus stood for, what he said, what he did, and how he died tell us he was an extraordinary man. But more than this, the accounts of his resurrection and of those who have experienced an encounter with him, testify to his divinity. With those who built St Cyriac’s and those who have worshipped here down the centuries, we reach out to Jesus our companion, and walk in his presence by the Holy Spirit.
